About the Event

Presenter Bio:

Hilary C. Hernandez was born and raised in El Paso, TX. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University in May 2014 with her Masters of Science in Family Therapy. Hilary decided to move back to El Paso, and she completed her hours to be a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2016 and 2017, respectively. She also fulfilled the requirements to receive her certification as a Registered Play Therapist in 2019. Hilary opened her private practice, New Journey Counseling Services, PLLC, in November 2019. She enjoys working with clients of all ages, and she utilizes a systemic, holistic, and trauma-informed approach. Hilary is interested in furthering her knowledge and skills for animal-assisted therapy, as well as working with women, couples, and families who are experiencing the addition of a new baby.

Presentation Abstract:

Ethical issues can be confusing to identify and navigate as some of them do not appear to pose a problem at first glance. When working with children and their families, it is important that clinicians are aware of the potential ethical dilemmas that can arise throughout treatment.

Presentation Objectives:

  • Participants will become knowledgeable about the various ethical codes that can apply to the different licenses in the state of Texas, as well as for the Association for Play Therapy.
  • Participants will identify a minimum of two common issues that play therapists encounter when working with clients and their families.
  • Participants will discuss considerations for ethical issues when providing telehealth services to play therapy clients.

This presentation is part two of a six part series. In lieu of our annual conference we have put together this Zoom mini-series. This presentation is not included in your membership but can be purchased here. You may purchase one presentation at a time or a package which offers a discount. Presentations in this mini-series are treated ala carte. Register for the presentations that you desire and feel would help expand your play therapy knowledge. We understand that everyone is in a different place with their training and hope this approach will allow you to take what best suits you at this time.
