Mini Series Part 6: Sand Tray Therapy – A practical way to use play therapy with clients from all ages

Presenter Bio:

Maria Antonieta Robles has been a licensed professional counselor for over 15 years and a registered play therapist for 10 years. She is passionate about working with children and uses client-centered interventions in her playroom. She sees clients as young as 2 years old and works also with adults. Maria has used sand tray therapy for many years in her interventions with adolescents and adults. She also incorporates mindfulness in play therapy.

Presentation Abstract:

Through this two-hour presentation, Maria will briefly review the history of utilizing sand in play therapy, the dynamics and uses of sand tray therapy and ways to implement its use with different age groups.

Presentation Objectives:

• Participants will learn about sand tray therapy as one practical modality of doing play therapy
• Participants will learn categories or families of objects as well as purposes of using sand tray in play therapy
• Participants will learn how to use sand tray interventions with different age groups in the therapeutic process
